The
web page for Enhanced Laboratory Surveillance of Measles,
a European Commission Partnership Project.
The aim of the ELSM project is to develop,
harmonise and co-ordinate the wider use of oral-fluid based
diagnostic methods and
apply these to the surveillance of
measles in Europe.
This will be achieved by
establishing an integrated network of expert laboratory
scientists and epidemiologists to enhance surveillance for
measles. ELSM
will introduce standardised methods for IgM
measles antibody detection and RT-PCR sequencing of measles
suitable for use on oral fluid. This, together with the
development of an information exchange network
will provide
an infrastructure and the necessary information to inform
progress towards the goal of measles elimination from Europe
in 2010.
This
web site is administered by the coordinating partner of
the ELSM network, SRMD, Health Protection Agency. It aims
to provide information relating to project ELSM and disseminate
other information relevant to measles, measles surveillance
and measles eradication in Europe. |
